mmm... yellow #5
cake baked> mmm. a bit dry (damn whole wheat flour) but good and chocolatey nonetheless. why would anyone ever mess with a pre-packaged mix? unless they like preservatives, i guess. and who doesn't, really? time to set my brain to... thanksgiving. i think i'm only in charge of one dish-- dressing. mmm. sagey. so, what-- i need to make a pan of cornbread and... well. find my freaking recipe i suppose. i'll probably end up bossing my way around the kitchen all day like i own the place-- i'm such a backseat cooker.
in unrelated news- i made a 100% flop the other night. pinto beans, can of diced tomatoes, some hot sauce, some carrots, cumin, bay leaf. is that it? anyway- i cooked the crap out of it and used my immersion blender (insert harp music here) to whip it into what i thought would be a yummy beany soupy dinner to go with this bitchin cornbread i made. blah. bland. nearly gross, but not interesting enough to be gross. oh well- it happens to the best of us. what gets me is that i couldn't figure a) what went wrong or b) how the fuck to fix it. i'll give the rest to my dog i guess.
